A brief history

- Our group of volunteers have been arranging for Jumaa prayer at North York City Center for over 20 years;
- For our Jumaa prayers we currently rent the Burgundy Hall at NY City Center (12:00 – 4:00 PM Fridays only)
- We are now a registered Charitable Organization in Ontario under the name of North York Muslim Association NYMA. Date of registration Nov. 2016.
- NYMA is Registered with CRA as Charity for tax purposes. (Registration # 819984790RR0001)
Our Vision
- We envision a vibrant Muslim Community that maintains it’s moderate Muslim identity while integrating in the Canadian Society at large;
- We see the proposed Future Masjid as a crucial part of this vision.
- Be true to ourselves and to others in everything we do.
Our Goals and Objectives
Short Term
- Sustain and improve our current services to the Muslim Community,
- Explore and implement means to expand NYMA services and charitable activities in support of its purpose, that is“To establish, maintain and support a house of worship with services conducted in accordance with the tenets and doctrines of the Islamic faith”.
- Take actual steps to acquire the resources necessary to achieve our goals and objectives.
- Acquiring space (by way of rental or purchase), sufficient for conducting basic Masjid functions on daily basis.
Long Terms
- Research and consider means to improve and upgrade our services, in particular programs and activities geared towards youth and younger Muslim professionals;
- Research and consider means to actually acquire a permanent site for the proposed NY Mosque;
